Dear Dr Holness,
This is just a note to tell of my first experience at the RGD, Half-Way-Tree Branch, when I went to register the birth of my daughter, Juliet Anita.
I went into the branch on Thursday, Jul-8 and took a number from the security guard. After about 90 minutes, a supervisor went around asking customers to sign the disclaimer. Then he asked us to go and pay the cashier. It was at this point that I realized that if I came to register a birth, I should not have been given a number.
I felt as if I wasted my time sitting there for 90 minutes (near the front door) waiting to register my child. The security guard kindly escorted me to the door of the registrar of births and deaths. Here I suggested to the security guard that he speak with the supervisor about posting the procedures on the door, to prevent first-timers from wasting time. While sitting at the door to the registrar's office, I stopped the supervisor who was passing by, and repeated my suggestion for posting the procedures on the front door. I felt annoyed at the fact that my wasted time could have been avoided and I told 2 customers who were sitting beside me. The supervisor took kindly to my suggestion and apologized profusely. When I went into the registrar's office, things to a turn for the better. The registrar completely de-stressed me by the excellent way in which she spoke with me. She mused with me a little by speaking about a few funny experiences she had with customers. The psychology that she used was fantastic. I told her of the terrible experience I had in losing 90 minutes of my time. She apologized to me and helped me to better deal with the bad experience. I was then thinking about joining the long line to the cashier to pay for the certificate. The registrar took the matter to its epitome when she offer to and pay for the certificate for me! That was out of this world. My wait was less than 2 minutes, as she went and paid the cashier for me. That was a wonderful gesture. That kind of customer service is par excellence.
Dr Holness, the staff at HWT branch was excellent in the way they dealt with me. So, as a first-timer it was overall a good experience. I left the 4 Trevennion Park Rd, feeling that the art of customer service in Jamaica is NOT lost after all. Please pass this compliment on to your staff.

I just want to say thank you so very much for my birth certificate. I received the package by Fed-ex this morning. Being overseas in the United States I urgently needed the certificate and thank you so much for expediting my request. I am so appreciative of this and will be notifying others of your excellent service and the security of using credit cards online. Once again thank you. Keep up the excellent work and service.
Regards,
Vivette Matthie
